Chilli Chicken


There goes one more chicken recipe “chilli chicken” from my side for which i do not need any main dish to eat with.I prepare it little dry..........and it goes straight in my stomach.well its a Indo-chinese fusion dish that can play perfectly the role of a quick snack/appetizer and also be served as a side dish with a bowl of hakka noodles/fried rice for a hearty meal with family and friends.



Chilli Chicken (Type 1)
Ingredients:


  • Chicken boneless – 500 gm
  • Onion - 2 (Chopped into sqares)
  • Soya sauce- 2 tbsp
  • Egg- 1
  • Pepper - ½ tbsp
  • Green chilly sauce - 1 ½ tbsp
  • Ajinomoto- a pinch
  • Ginger-Garlic paste- ½ tbsp
  • Corn flour- 1 tbsp
  • Garlic- 4 pods
  • Deseeded and Slit Green chillies- 1 or 2 (I added 2 more)
  • Capsicum chopped - ½ cup
  • Vinegar - ½ tsp
  • Oil to fry
  • Salt to taste



Method:



  • Wash and clean the chicken pieces.
  • Marinate in soya sauce, salt, beaten egg, pepper pwd, green chilli sauce, ginger-garlic paste and corn flour for 1 hour.
  • Heat oil in a fry pan, fry the marinated chicken till they turn dark brown in color.
  • Remove excess oil, by wrapping in tissue paper.
  • In the hot oil, add chopped garlic, green chillies , onion and fry for 2 mins.
  • Now add fried chicken, capsicum and sauté on medium flame.
  • To this add, soya sauce, green chilli sauce, pepper, ajinomoto and mix well .
  • Turn off the flame, add ½ tsp vinegar and stir.
  • Serve hot with Fried rice or Noodles.





Sometimes, i cook chilli chicken in other way round...it also tastes nice.Try it!!Those who want semi gravy or little more gravy can try this..





Chilli Chicken (Type 2)


Ingredients:

  • Chicken boneless – 500 gm
  • Soya sauce- 2-3 tbsp
  • Egg- 1
  • Garlic-1 tsp
  • Ginger-1 tsp
  • Vinegar-1 tsp
  • Corn flour- 1 tbsp
  • Oil- 3 tsp
  • Spring Onion- 2 chopped, Reserve the greens for garnishing
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Deseeded and Slit Green chillies- 1 or 2 (I added 2 more)
  • Deseeded and Slit Red chillies- 1 or 2
  • Capsicum- 1 chopped



Method:
  • Marinate chicken in 2 tbsp soya sauce, vinegar, chopped garlic, ginger and egg white for 1 hour.
  • Heat oil. Keep the marinade aside and fry only the chicken. Keep chicken covered for 5 minutes and then fry without cover on medium flame for 15-20 minutes or till done and dry. Add spring onion, chillies and capsicum. Toss & remove from fire.
  • Mix together the cornflour and water with the leftover marinade, and bring to a boil. Immediately pour over hot cooked chicken.
  • Serve hot garnished with spring onion greens
